On Wednesday, Indian forces had shot dead a stone-pelting protester, near main military base in Srinagar. The army and police said it had triggered the latest round of violence, by opening fire on demonstrators. The army says at least 12 people have been killed in the past two weeks clashes with police and militant groups, but the victims' family members say more than a dozen others have been killed. "A lot of my friends are dead now," said Mohsin, a 22-year-old student. "The people behind are terrorists and there should not be any violence."
